Dorothy Christine Hales

Dorothy Christine Hales, 79 years of age died Tuesday, Feb 12th at Penrose Hospice after a week and a half battle. She was born Dorothy Christine Haws on June 17th, 1939 in the small central California town of Avenal. She grew up there with her father, Glen; mother, Estie; older sister, Gustine; younger sister, Linda; and little brother, Ronnie. Chris was attending Avenal high school when she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Samuel 'Roy' Hales, or as I like to call him dad. They were married there in that small town on her sixteenth birthday and that was the beginning of a 63 year journey that sadly now has come to an end. February, 1957 she gave birth to her first son, Gerran Roy Hales, who was nearly lost at 2 and a half months of age due to a cyst on the lung that was removed surgically. June, 1962 she gave birth to her second son, Randall Jay Hales, healthy as a horse. Roy and Chris eventually settled down in the city of Palm Springs to raise their family. Over the years there she fostered and adopted several troubled teens. Those relationships remain precious and strong to this day. Chris is survived by her husband, two sons, and extended family. She will be laid to rest Friday the 15th of February, 2019 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. Click here to view the live video of the funeral service.
