Dorothy Mae Harris, (AKA Ms. Dot), age 86 of Tampa, Florida passed away December 28, 2019. Her date of birth was July 5, 1933. She was born in Alachua County, Gainesville, Florida and moved to New York City in 1958. Her last residence was 1534 Nuccio Parkway Tampa Park Apartments since 1976. She was a member of The River Church. She was sweet, kind, and Loving to many. She was humorous in many ways. Her favorite song was “Practice What You Preach” by Barry White, and she loved to dance. She was extremely strong and a hard worker. Her favorite place was Harbor Island where she retired as a nanny. People loved her for the things she said and the moments they shared with her. She would give you the clothes off her back, the food off her plate, and she gave straight forward advice. She was honest, and she always put God first. Last, but not least, she was a real friend, a Loving mother, and the best Grandmother. She is preceded in death by her loving parents Mr. Anthony Harris and Iona Ross Jenkins. Last, but not least, a host of cousins and friends, and Pearl Goyens, Rosalyn Allen, and Lisa Spencer Tucker a.k.a "Sugar Bear" Dorothy will be missed by all. For Those I Love For Those Who Loved Me Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call, turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to Love, to work or play; I found my place at the close of day even though my parting has left a void. Please fill it up to overflow with our memories of joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a hug, a kiss; Ah, yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I will pray for you for the sunshine of tomorrow. My life has been full, and I have savored much, good friends, good times, and your Loving touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart, lift up your head, and share in this eternal joy with me. God wanted me now. He has set me free.
