Dorothy Hartzell

Dorothy Mae Hartzell, 85 of Englewood, died peacefully at her Charlotte County home on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. She was born on July 28, 19247 in Kalamazoo, MI to Jesse and Martha (Liberty) Truax. Dorothy moved to this area in 1987 from Kalamazoo, MI. She worked as a teller and auditor for the banking industry for many years. Dorothy was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1933, American Legion and VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed golfing, playing cards and dancing. Survivors include her husband of 10 years; Earl W. Hartzell: two sons; Mark Chipman of Woodbridge, VA., Randall Chipman of Norwich, NY: four step children; Wanda Gail Robinson of Rotonda West, FL., Earl Dwane Hartzell of Englewood, FL., Stanley L. Hartzell of Englewood, FL and Barry Alan Hartzell of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by two half sisters; Eva Curran of Kalamazoo, MI., Shirley Truax of Ocala, FL and 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Englewood Community Funeral Home, Inc. 3070 S. McCall Rd. at 1:00 PM. Family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Mrs. Hartzell's name to the American Cancer Society or your local SPCA.
