April 21st, 1938 - June 13th, 2020
Dorothy Geraldine McLaughlin, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 13, 2020. A Funeral Service honoring her life will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Bible Holiness Church in Leeds, Alabama. A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Immediately following services, Geraldine will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Alabama National Cemetery. Geraldine was born on April 21, 1938 to the late John Morgan and Maggie Leslie Morgan in Overton, Alabama. Geraldine was a very loving individual who never met a stranger. She was a teacher for all age groups and even taught English as a second language. Geraldine was a true businesswoman who would help run many different forms of family businesses. She was a very devoted Christian which showed in her daily walk with volunteering her time to assist many different organizations which lead her to found Concerned Christian for the Mentally Handicap. She will forever be remembered as a; giving, joyful, full of love, humble, welcoming, and a true woman of the Lord. In addition to her parents she is preceded by her loving husband of 60 years, Melvin Hubert McLaughlin, 9 brothers, and 3 sisters. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving Children; Teresa Morton (Brad) of Portland, Or., Katherine Morris (Lanny) of Lizella, Ga., Mac McLaughlin, Jr. of San Antonio, Tx., Elizabeth Brown (Hal) of Lizella, Ga., Stephen McLaughlin of Warner Robins, Ga; Sister, Mary Morgan-Smith; Grandchildren, Amber Cederberg (Jeff), Michelle Brinkley (Ben), Ryan Wridge (Marisa), Melanie Johnston (Don) Garrett Brown, Morgan Brown, Christopher McLaughlin, Mason McLaughlin, and Jared McLaughlin; and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews as well as extended family members. In lieus of flowers the family respectfully asks that donations be made payable to the Bible Holiness Church of God, 1529 Ashville Road, Leeds, Al. 35094.
