Dorothy Middlemiss

Dorothy Middlemiss 91 of Clearwater passed away January 18, 2013. She was born Mary Dorothy Brautigam, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, April 7th, 1921 and passed away peacefully of natural causes this January 18th at Mease Continuing Care in Dunedin, Florida. She was the beloved spouse of fifty-nine years to Edward Joseph Middlemiss of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, who preceded her in passing in 2001. She was also preceded in passing by her four siblings: two sisters, Margaret Regan and Francis Roley, both of St. Petersburg, and two brothers, Ralph Brautigam of Monessen, PA, and Anthony Brautigam of Tallahassee, Florida. She was also preceded in passing by a beloved nephew, Rex Vernon of St. Petersburg and Diane Brautigam of Monessen, PA. Dorothy is survived by her three children and their spouses: Tynkr Berg (Charles) of Dunedin and Catherine Katopis (John) of Clearwater, and Edward Joseph Middlemiss, Jr. (Christine) of San Pablo, CA. Dorothy was graced with six loving grandchildren: Lars and Derek Berg, Edward Joseph III and Jeffrey Middlemiss, and Kristi and John Katopis, as well as one great grandchild, Clifford Berg. In addition, she was also graced with two wonderful grand-nephews Locke and Regan Hudson and grand-niece Ramy Klein. Dorothy was the beloved aunt to the eight sons and daughters of the late Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Regan of St. Petersburg, as well as two Brautigam nieces in Tallahassee, Florida and two Brautigam nephews from Monessen, PA. Dorothy was active for many years in community service in her adopted hometown of McKeesport, PA. Besides her amazing passion and love for her greater family, Dorothy was an avid bridge player, at which she excelled. She loved the outdoors, especially the lakes of Pennsylvania and the local beaches here in the Tampa area, and was known for her amazingly vigorous walking, surpassing many younger peers in her speed and endurance. Our hearts will stay with her forever. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Light of Christ Catholic Church, 2176 Marilyn Street, Clearwater. David C.
