Dorothy was born on April 4, 1918 in Kalispell, MT to John P. Petersen and Augusta Dorothy Fleischer. After graduating from Flathead High School, she attended the Cornish Music School is Seattle where she played piano. A short time later, Dorothy had some friends over to her place for dinner. These friends brought a young man with them that they thought Dorothy might be interested in. Of course she paid him no attention. Well, good thing that Eddie was persistent, as he was her soulmate, the love of her life. They went on to marry and that marriage lasted nearly 50 years before Edward was taken far too soon from her and us in a drowning accident in April of 1995. They had a daughter who they named Rosemary and did some traveling while Eddie was in the Navy. They lived in Hawaii for a short while but made their permanent home on Lake Desire, near Renton, WA. Their only grandson, Mark, spent many happy summers on that lake and Dorothy always kept gum in the special cabinet just for him. Dorothy lived on the lake for 30 years, hosting many friends, families, holidays and gatherings. Dorothy worked at the SeaTac Red Lion as an executive house keeper for 10 years. She really enjoyed her job and took great pride in the work that she did. She was also a very proud and active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association. Dorothy loved cooking, gardening, socializing and she always looked great. She had wonderful style. Eventually, the house became a bit much for Dorothy to keep up so she decided it was time to simplify and downsize. She sold the house on the lake and moved to Farrington Court in Kent. Of course she instantly made friends fit right in. Dorothy enjoyed taking field trips and doing activities there. Dorothy experienced a few set backs and lived in a few different care facilities later in life. She spent her final time at Golden Wings Adult Family Home in Kent, WA. They took wonderful care of Dorothy for nearly 7 years. On Tuesday, October 23, 2012, Heaven received another angel. Dorothy was reunited with her beloved Eddie. She is survived by her daughter, her grandson and her great grandson, Grayson Edward, whom she got to meet and play with before leaving us and her nephew, Jeff. Dorothy was a beautiful, kind, generous soul who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Edwards Memorial Chapel, 11020 South Tacoma Way in Lakewood.
