Funeral service for Dorothy Garner Stinson, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Jerry Arnold and Associate Pastor Brooks Harper. The family will be at the residence of Denise and Buddy Sloan. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 3223 Sunset Blvd., Ste. 100, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Stinson, widow of SFC John B. Stinson, U.S. Army, Retired, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 25, 2012. Born in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hal J. and Katy L. Garner. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Fowler. She attended Hidden Valley Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling. She was a loving Army wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who loved her family and her "Fur Babies". Mrs. Stinson was the bed rock of her family. The family would like to thank the nurses and CNA'S of Lexington Extended Care, and the nurses and CNA'S of the 6th floor, South Tower at Lexington Medical Center for their compassionate care. Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Stinson, Vickie Graham (Carroll), Denise Sloan (Buddy), and Wanda Stevenson (Jim) all of Pelion; brother, Jimmy Garner (Sandra) of Pacolet; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; also her special friend, Mrs. Elizabeth Josey.
