Dorothy Talbott
November 23rd, 1928 - January 11th, 2015
Dorothy A. Talbott, 86, of Highlands Ranch, CO, died peacefully on Sunday, January 11 at home. Dottie was born in Detroit Michigan on November 23, 1928 to Merrill C. and Vanche Adams. She grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1946. That year, Dorothy moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating in 1950 with a BA in Fine Arts. Dorothy married John Talbott in 1950. Together, they raised their family and remained in Colorado as members of the Englewood, Genesee, and Highlands Ranch communities. A life long accomplished artist, Dottie was a member of the American Watercolor Society, the Colorado Watercolor Society and Gilpin County Arts Association where she received the ‘Best of Show’ Award in 1999. She enjoyed skiing in Aspen with her husband and their daughters, playing tennis, hiking and traveling. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, John L. Talbott, her daughters Carol (Bill) Turpin of Golden, Colorado; Becky (Ric) Melzer of Billings, Montana; Marty (John) Barta of Flushing, Michigan; her grandchildren Scott Turpin of Golden, Colorado; Eric (Missy) Turpin of Bakersfield, California; Luke (Alejandra Rodriguez) Turpin of Huntington Beach, California; Tracy (Laura) Melzer of Christchurch, New Zealand; Kerri Melzer of Seattle, Washington; Katie Barta of Royal Oak, Michigan; Jay Barta of Farmington, Missouri; her great granddaughters Avery Turpin, Adalyn Turpin, Cassia Melzer, Nina Melzer and Special Caregiver Cynthia Davis. A Memorial service celebrating the life of Dottie Talbott will be held on Tuesday, February 10, at 2:00 PM at Wind Crest, 3235 Mill Vista Road, Highlands Ranch, CO, officiated by Chaplain Heather Shoup with participation by the Rev. Philip Brown. Memorials are preferred to: Wind Crest Student Scholarship Fund, Wind Crest Resident Care Fund, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
