Dorothy "Dorothy" Maxine Thiessen

Dorothy Maxine Thiessen Obituary: 

 

Dorothy Maxine Nelson Thiessen was born December 19, 1931 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. She passed away peacefully March 18, 2024 with family by her side. She was 92 years old.  

 

Dorothy grew up in Englewood, Colorado with parents, Elmer and Agnes Nelson along with her two older brothers, Eldon and Raymond. She graduated from Englewood High School in  1950. She later attended Nebraska Christian College in Norfolk, NE for three years following high school. She then pursued a career in Nursing at Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Dorothy graduated from Nursing school in 1956 and began her nursing career at Swedish Hospital. She met and fell in love with Ray Thiessen at Presbyterian Hospital where he was working as an orderly. August 9, 1957, Dorothy and Ray got married and soon after became parents to David (1960) and Susan (1963).  

 

Dorothy is survived by her son David (Chris) and her daughter Susan (Marty) as well as her granddaughters, Sarah and Lauren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
