Dorothy "Dot" Marie Thompson
March 15th, 1957 - March 21st, 2020
Dorothy Marie Thompson, 63, died Saturday, March 21, 2020, after an abrupt and tenacious bout with breast cancer. Dot was born March 15, 1957, to Ruth (Freemyer) and Walter Mildenberger in Fort Morgan, Colorado. After attending Burlington High School and the University of Colorado, Dot married her husband Mark on March 14, 1977. After having sons Wally and Adam, the family moved to Loveland, where Dot worked as a loan assistant. She’ll be remembered most by her warm smile, infinite kindness, unconditional devotion to her family, and an undying love for her grandkids. Dot is survived by her husband Mark Thompson; children Wally Thompson (Mikala) and Adam Thompson (Courtney); grandchildren Beckett and Mareck Thompson; siblings Ron Mildenberger (Aleta), Dale Mildenberger (Kathy), Ed Mildenberger (Donita), Richard Mildenberger (Vickie), Jay Mildenberger, and Phyllis Dreher (Mike);and sisters-in-law Cathy Minter, Chris Thompson, and Pam Reschke. Dot touched the lives of so many not only a beloved wife, mother and grandmother but also as an aunt, great aunt, cousin, godmother, co-worker, neighbor, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents. Cremation has been arranged through Viegut Funeral Home, and a celebration of life will be scheduled in the future when family and friends are able to safely gather in her memory. In lieu of flowers, please honor Dot’s legacy by donating to her favorite charity: Sierra’s Race for Meningitis.
