Douglas James Nolan, Lieutenant Colonel, US Air Force (Ret) 61, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. Born on November 19, 1954 in Memphis, TN to Clifford and Jean (Erskine) Nolan; Lt. Col. Douglas Nolan served in the US Air Force for 23 years. Upon retirement he and his wife Katheryn moved to Port Charlotte in 2002 from his last duty station at Maxwell AFB, AL. He was a member of the Arcadia and Sarasota Gun Clubs and was an avid kayaker with his wife. Survivors include his wife of 33 years: Katheryn, two daughters: Rebecca Blalock of Englewood, FL and Michelle Hammond-Hirschy (Jason) of Arcadia, FL; one brother: Bruce (Paula) Nolan of Mechanicsburg, PA, his best friend: Bob and Paula Snyder of Port Charlotte, FL; six grandchildren: Jessica, Lizzabeth, Jason, Alexis, Laura and Scott. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory, 3070 S. McCall Rd. from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:30 PM... A Celebration of Life with Air Force Military Honors to conclude the Service.
