Douglas Scott Thompson

Douglas Scott Thompson Phoenix, Arizona - Douglas "Doug" Thompson left this world fighting a recent illness as he slept on March 12, 2016. Doug was born April 13, 1952 on "Easter Sunday" in Peoria, Illinois. Doug was introduced to this world by his parents Donald D. Thompson and Dorothy M. Thompson who preceded him in death. Doug spent his youth in Washington, IL, graduated from Washington Community High School in1970, attended Illinois Central Community College in Peoria, IL, and continued his education at DeVry University in Phoenix, AZ. From 1978-83 in Peoria, IL, at the age of 26, Doug originated a singing telegram business, "The Minstrel Messenger". On a parchment scroll he created a personalized message and delivered it to an audience using lyrics from a familiar song for private events. Doug spent most of his career in retail sales: Pitney Bowes Business Machines- Aurora, CO, Master Water Distributors - Gilbert, AZ. 1991-93. In 1993 he started AAA Pure Water Professionals water purification softener systems and supplies in Mesa, AZ, Doug also served as a property appraiser with the Maricopa County Assessors Office (2005-07). Doug is survived by: the love of his life, his daughter-Brittany Thompson of Omaha, NE; brother and sister-in-law, - Roger and Deni Thompson, Charlotte, NC; sister- Shari Thompson, Charleston, IL; a nephew Ryan Thompson, and niece Robin Tonelli - both of Charlotte, and a niece Nicole Smith, Lexington, NC. A memorial service is planned this summer….
