Obituary Douglas Ulmer, 57, of Fort Collins, passed away peacefully in his home on February 29, 2012. Douglas was born July 14, 1954 in Bethesda, MD to William and Josephine Ann(Wurzell) Ulmer. He joined the Air Force when he was 17 and served in Viet Nam. After serving his country, Doug attended Arapahoe Community College. In 1974 he began work with the Burlington Northern Railroad as a Station Master in Fort Collins, Longmont, and Denver. In 1985 he took a position with RTD in Denver where he was a Material Manager until 1987 when he began his career with the Internal Revenue Service. At the time of his death, Doug was the Collection Group Manager in the Fort Collins Office. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, loved to play golf, work in his garden and especially play with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #804 in Fort Collins. He is survived by his wife Mardy Ulmer and their two sons, Ben Ulmer and Fiance Wendy Hansen of Denver and Nick (Jennifer) Ulmer of Archdale, NC, four brothers William Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Kerry of Sylvania, Ohio, Sean of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Mike of Toledo,OH, two sisters, Michelle Deeter of Sylvania, OH, Amy Bonfiglio of Toledo, OH, two grandchildren Emily and Riley Ulmer. He was preceded in death by one brother Darby Ulmer . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Collins at 2:30PM, followed with military honors by the F. E. Warren Air Force Base Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics in care of Vessey Funeral Service.
