"Palmer- Douglas H. Watson, 75, Flynt St., passed away July 2, 2007 at Mary Lyon Nursing Home. Born in Providence, R.I. on September 12, 1931, he was the son of the late Louis and Jennie (Cole) Watson. Douglas has lived in Palmer for the past 48 years and served his country in the U.S.Navy. He was a communicant and part of the choir at St. Christopher’s Church and a past cantor at St. Thomas Church for 20 years. Douglas was self employed as a carpenter and retired from the Monson School Department, where he worked in maintenance. He also previously worked at Utility Manufacturing in Wilbraham for over 30 years. Douglas enjoyed woodworking along with the outdoors while fishing, bird watching and had many memorable camping trips. He is survived by his wife if 51 years, Cecile (LeCours) along with his children Christopher of Granitville, VT, William and his wife Dawn of Palmer, Timothy and his wife Paula of Wales, Anne Marie and her husband Jeff Brunk of Carmel, IN, Stephen and his wife Melissa of Arcadia, FL, Thomas and his wife Joann of Pittsfield, VT, and Patrick and his wife Lexie of Bar Harbor, ME. Doug also leaves his siblings, Carolyn Hermanson of Monson, Robert of Redding, CA, Richard of Belchertown, Ruth Vadnais of Ware, Kathryn Goodrich of Sunset City, N.C., and Linda Culverwell of FL as well as 11 grandchildren, Jason, Victoria, Adam, Jason, Heather, Sean, Jacob, Erin, Kristin, Ben and Olivia and 7 great grandchildren. Douglas was predeceased by his siblings David, Judy LeCours, Buster and Marian Carlson. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Monson followed by burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 264 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104. "
