Dr. Julian Cave
November 4th, 1933 - September 19th, 2008
Rev. Dr. Julian Attaway Cave Jr. 74, Priest in charge of St. Albans Episcopal Church, St. Pete Beach died Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Palms of Pasadena Hospital. He was a graduate of North Greenville Junior College and Furman University where he was honored by the Alumni Association for his outstanding contributions to the University. He also studied at the University of Georgia, the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and the Virginia Theological Seminary in Falls Church, VA. Julian held an honorary doctorate degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Cave of Redington Beach and parents Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Cave of Greenville, South Carolina. Julian is survived by his former wife Lenora Conway of Charlottesville, VA, his three sons, Julian Attaway Cave of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mark Christian Cave of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Stuart Webb Cave of Hoboken, New Jersey and grandchildren Sebastian Cave and Bella Grace Cave of Charlottesville. In addition to St. Albans, Julian served as a minister in churches in Broxburn, Scotland; Denmark, South Carolina; Chester, South Carolina; Athens, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Wilmington, North Carolina; Washington, D. C.; Boca Grande, Florida; Tampa, Florida and Largo, Florida. Julian also served as mayor of Redington Beach, Florida. He made lasting friendships in all of these places. Julian wrote for the National Episcopal weekly magazine, The Living Church, among other publications and touched many lives through his ministry and writings. Julian enjoyed traveling and visited many countries throughout the world. Services will be held at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in St. Pete Beach 1PM Saturday, September 27, 2008, the Rev. Cannon Millard Neil, officiating.. An additional service will be held for friends and family on Saturday, November 1 in Charlotte, NC.
