Dr. Sonia Kaur Nijjar Everest

On Thursday, August 28, 2014, heaven received another angel. Dr. Sonia Kaur Nijjar Everest, 29, passed away after a sudden downturn in her health over several weeks.Sonia was born on December 14, 1984, in Fresno, CA. Sonia was an exemplary student who graduated high school as a valedictorian. Sonia then attended UC Berkeley where she received a Bachelors of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology. She continued her education at USC where she got her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2013. Sonia was in the process of completing the postdoctoral specialty program in Pediatric Dentistry at USC.Sonia enjoyed spending time with those that she loved, living each day to its fullest. She was known to her friends and family to have a smile that filled the room, an ethereal glow and personality that exuded her internal beauty, and a sense of love and respect that inspired every person that she ever knew. She was known to be a fun-loving and family-oriented individual who served as an exceptional role model to her siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.Sonia was in chardi kala (eternal optimism) until her last breath. Her courage and faith in the Almighty were unwavering as she sent out Jakaray when faced with each and every challenge. Her faith in Waheguru and love for her family gave her incredible strength. She was simply a beautiful soul and an inspirational Gursikh. She is loved by all and will be missed very dearly.Sonia is survived by her adoring husband, Dr. Harpreet Singh Everest, who never left her side and was the source of her strength during this trial, and continues to be an inspiration to his friends and family. She is also survived by her loving grandparents: Gurdial Kaur Nijjar and Gurdev Singh & Mohinder Kaur Grewal; parents: Manjit Singh & Kamal Kaur Nijjar and Dr. Paramjit Singh & Surinder Kaur Everest; her siblings: Amarpreet Kaur Everest, Puneet Kaur Nijjar, Gagandeep Singh Nijjar and Harkiren Kaur Everest.Prayers start at 12pm Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street, Yuba City, CA 95991. Langar and Sehaj path bhog will follow at the Tierra Buena Sikh Temple Gurudwara, 2468 Tierra Buena Road starting at 2pm.
