Drane Hart Wight, 73, of Warner Robins, died Thursday, October 14, following a brief illness. Drane, born March 20, 1937, was a native of Buena Vista, Georgia. She attended Abraham Baldwin College and graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA, where she majored in and mastered the art of home economics. Drane is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill “”Buddy”” Wight, also a native of Buena Vista. She was the mother of Dr. Virginia Wight Macon, The Reverend Deborah Wight-Knight Bonaire, and The Reverend Billy Wight Palm Coast, FL. Also cherished, were her daughter-in-law, Kim Wood Wight Palm Coast, son-in-law, Dr. Grady Knight Bonaire, and five remarkable grandchildren. Other survivors include her siblings, Mariola H. & Walter W. Cosby Katheleen, Ernest D. & Evelyn Hart Buena Vista. Drane was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Warner Robins, and a faithful participant in the Winmore Sunday School Class. A memorial service officiated by Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr., will be held at First United Methodist Church, 205 North Davis Drive, on Monday, October 18, at 11:00 AM. Visitation with family and friends will follow immediately. The burial of ashes will occur that same day at the Buena Vista Cemetery, 3:00 PM. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
