Duane Frank Stomberg

Duane Frank Stomberg of Punta Gorda, FL. Loving husband of 56 years to Carol (Swanson) Stomberg; cherished and dedicated father of Jeffrey F. Stomberg (Jennifer) and Michael L. Stomberg (Stephanie); cherished grandfather of Allison, Jessica, Olivia, Cole, Alex and Max; beloved brother of Bernie (Loretta) Stomberg, Penny (Larry) Stomberg and the late Jim (Shirley) Stomberg; devoted son of the late Leland and Linnea Stomberg; godfather and friend of many. Duane was born in Galesburg and grew up in Knoxville, IL. Duane married the love of his life, Carol, just after they both graduated high school. He loved to fish, golf, travel, provide a helping hand, referee sports, provide community leadership including as an Assistant Fire Chief, and just be an all-around great guy. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and family. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday, with family, food and football. He was strong in his faith and believed we would all be united as a family again. Family and friends will be received at Faith Lutheran Church, 4005 Palm Drive, Punta Gorda, FL 34233 on Thursday, March 2 at 10:30 am, followed by a luncheon at the Lakewood Village Clubhouse in Punta Gorda. In addition, a second memorial service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 317 SW Third Street, Galva, IL 61434 in late spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Messiah Lutheran Church.
