Duane J. Wilkinson

Duane Johnnie Wilkinson was born December 21, 1925 to his parents, Johnnie and Mabel (Doremus) Wilkinson and passed away at his home in Greeley, CO Sunday, May22, 2011. He was born in Stromsburg, NE, raised on a farm near Benedict, NE and graduated from Benedict High School in 1943. Duane married Jean Hewitt July 25, 1948 in Osceola, NE. After marriage they farmed for eight years near Benedict and moved to Loveland, CO in 1956 where they owned a Texaco service station. In 1962 they moved to Greeley where they owned and operated three service stations over a period of 21 years. They continued to work side by side and retired in 2003. Even though their work lives kept them very busy they found time to travel extensively, including trips to Jamaica, Hawaii and a cruise to Alaska. Duane enjoyed spending time at their home in Greeley and on the farm in Nebraska with their family. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Greeley; daughters, Connie (Richard) Morris of Windsor, CO and Nancy Wilkinson of York County, NE; grandchildren, Tammy Morris of Greeley, Matthew and Tiffany Wilkinson of Evans, CO; great grandchildren, Austin, Emily and Fallyn Nielsen and Seth, Jacob and Ethan Wilkinson. Duane is preceded in death by his son, Monty Lynn Wilkinson and grandson, Jeffrey Brian Morris. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011 with viewing one hour prior at Adamson Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Faith United Church of Christ, Windsor” or "Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
