Duncan Dubose Holliday
January 15th, 1922 - June 2nd, 2022
Duncan Dubose Holliday, Sr., 100, of Orangeburg, South Carolina passed away peacefully oin Thursday, June 2, 2022. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Hafers Holliday, his daughter, Cynthia Holliday Burckhalter, his brother, Robert William Holliday, Jr. and sister, Katherine Hollliday Shuler. "Dunc" was born in Washington, Georgia and was the son of the late Robert William Holliday and Mattie Dubose Holliday. He was a graduate of Aiken High School. Following graduation, he worked for the Aiken Electric Co-Op until joining the United States Navy where he served at Pearl Harbor until his discarge. He worked for Nabsco for 37 years without missing a day of work. There he was described as a "gentleman and dedicated salesman." The majority of his life was spent in Aiken, SC where he was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly and their family gatherings. Survivors include his son, Duncan Dubose Holliday, Jr. (Vivian) of Barnwell, SC and his daughter, Judy Holliday Weathers (Arden) of Orangeburg, SC and son-in-law, L. Jarrett Burckhalter IV of Mount Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Jason Dubose Holliday (Chrissy) of Pueblo, CO, Philip Hafers Holliday (Angie) of Denver, NC, Melanie Weathers Calder (Robert) of Greenville, SC, Cynthia Weathers Boswell (William) of Greenville, SC, Laura Elizabeth Weathers of Columbia, SC, Tiffany Burckhalter Hunter of Orangeburg, SC and Megan Burckhalter Harrison (John) of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Kellen Torne Holliday, Camryn Bayley Holliday, Carsyn Paisley Holliday, Carolyn Evelyn Calder, Sara Grace Calder, William Jess Boswell IV, Asher Arden Boswell, Andrew Hydrick Hunter, Annabelle Holliday Hunter, Hayes Douglas Harrison and Evelyn Holliday Harrison. The family would like to thank the staff of Grove Park Hospice and Legacy of Orangeburg for their dedicated care. There will be a private burial at a later date. Memorials may be made to Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry, P.O. Box 203, Ballentine, SC 29002. South Carolina Cremation Society is assisting the family.
