Durron Wesley Turner
July 15th, 1984 - July 5th, 2020
Durron Wesley Turner The loss of our dearest Durron is immeasurable, but so is the love he leaves behind. Born at Madigan Hospital on July 15, 1984, Durron Wesley Turner brought light into the world as the eldest son of Lisa Franco, and the older brother of Charles Southerland. Wherever he went, Durron’s jovial spirit, infectious laughter, and unbridled smile filled the room. At his core, Durron was a family man. He spent his childhood taking swim lessons with his beloved grandmother Meme, running errands on the hips of his aunties, and passing the time as a confidant and protector to Charles. He loved scheming over the next family movie night or holiday brunch; anything that brought his loved ones together under one roof. Over the years, Durron’s accomplishments ran the gamut from athletic championships to his most recent recognition of excellence from his employer. But Durron measured his greatest accomplishment in his two sons, King and Royale. A devoted father, Durron’s adoration for his children was larger than life. Whether diligently reciting multiplication tables, staying up all night to play through the newest videogame release, or teaching the boys how to cook with their grandmother Lisa, Durron found his greatest joy and purpose in fatherhood. Durron slipped away peacefully on the evening of July 5th, 2020. He leaves behind a legacy of boundless love and a generousness of spirit that he extended to everyone in his life. To know Durron was know the meaning of family. Durron is remembered and cherished by his mother Lisa Franco and brother Charles Southerland; his sons King Hopkins and Royale Turner; his “auntie Juju” Julie Franco; his “little sister” Jayme Staten and “brother-in-law” Nathan Cox; his aunts Kathleen Franco and Gloria Lloyd (Lon Lloyd); his uncles Carmen “Andy” Franco (Tadu Franco) and Jon Franco; his stepfather Charles Southerland (Tana Southerland); his cousins Reva Cook, Ashley Lloyd, Erin Franco, Tiffany Lloyd; the mother of his children Kaisha Wright; and the scores of friends-made-family whose hearts Durron forever touched. Durron’s warm and welcoming spirit will be honored at a graveside service on Friday, July 17 at 2PM at New Tacoma Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations be made to StandUp for Kids. We also ask, in Durron’s memory, to pay it forward with acts of kindness and joy—the same way Durron sparked joy in the lives of everyone who knew him. D, we will love you forever.
