Earl "Jim" McCarty, age 85, a 50 year resident of Las Vegas, died peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, December 5, 2013. Jim was born April 1, 1928 in Burlington CO to the late Earl James and Eva Frances Look McCarty. He served in the US Army and worked 30 years for REECo at the Nevada Test Site. Predeceased by sister Lorraine McCarty Bayless and son James Daniel McCarty, Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years Marie St. Martin McCarty and children Mary Ann (Mike) Nolan, Clare (Jim) Thayer, Dorie (Mike) Werner, Suzy (Tom) Jones, Tim (Lori) McCarty, Julie (Geno) Ceccarelli, Lisa (Don) Oberempt, Alice Thome, 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at noon at Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 S. Torrey Pines, 89118. Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
