Earl was born on a drain ditch in Rupert, Idaho on January 10, 1938.  As his dad said, their tent was warmer than grandpa and grandma’s (Moffit’s) house on 4th Street.

He attended schools in Heyburn until his senior year of high school when all of Minidoka County high school aged kids began attending the Minidoka County High School (aka Minico). He was part of the first graduating class in 1956.

As soon as he turned 18 he joined the Navy and off he went to see the world (1956-1959).  He attended schools in Tennessee and Oklahoma and spent time on the USS Midway and the USS Ticonderoga and some time in the Philippines, Japan and Hawaii.  While assigned to Whidbey Island NAS, he met and married Alta.

Earl and Alta were married for sixty-four years and have two children, Kristi (Quentin) Burr and Randy (Candy) Moffit; grandchildren:  Michelle Reaves, Ashley (Brad) McCain, Jessica (Teddy) Sedalor, KayLee (Mamie) Carr, Lindsay Peterson, Boyd Arnold, Shaneal (Joe) Jenkins, Brandon (Paige) Gillespie, Micala (Jake) Gillespie; and great grandchildren: Landen, Emerie and Kyler Reaves; Hunter and Addison McCain, Cyril Sedalor, Ashtyn and Dakota Wallace, Isabella and Bailey Hofmeister, Olympia Gillespie; and niece Marian Rawls.

Earl worked in the freight business most of his life.  He started with Garrett Freightlines in 1962.  After they went out of business, he hauled fuel for Lynch Oil, drove for NACA, Yellow Freight, Nations Way Freight and retired from ABF in 2002.

His hobbies included golf, hunting, fishing, woodworking, camping and travel.

He put a high priority on family and dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His philosophy has been to “Live and let live”.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Earl's name to Cole Community Church, 8775 W Ustick Rd., Boise, ID 83704.
