Sergeant First Class, Eddie Santos Salcedo, Bravo Co. 864th Engineer Bn., Combat Heavy, of Los Angeles, CA and Shiprock, New Mexico passed onto his next life on July 16, 2006, in Washington with his family beside him. Eddie’s life was blessed and celebrated by all who knew him and his death will mark many people who will forever miss him and keep him near in our thoughts and prayers. View Video Tribute online, click link below: http://videos.lifetributes.com/?id=4221 By the age of 34 years old, upon Eddie’s passing, he accomplished many wonderful things, mainly being a generous, compassionate and loving person, leader, husband, friend to all, construction engineer, member of the Sgt. Audie Murphy club, decorated Army recruiter from 2001 to 2004 based in Farmington, N.M., skier, mountain climber, propeller, wrestler, and football player. On August 7, 1971, Eddie entered this world and shaped it by serving others, whether it was his family, friends or the United States Military. Always wanting to be with people, Eddie was a Royal Ranger as a young boy, learning the fundamentals of leadership. A graduate of Shiprock High School, Eddie immediately entered the Army and excelled within the military community. From November 1989 to June 29, 2006, Eddie served his country and people, having bestowed upon him multiple military honors. Beginning his military career at Fort Ord, CA, Eddie quickly advanced to the role of Noncommissioned Officer. He served tours in Germany and later in Korea policing the demilitarized zone. Primarily stationed in Fort Lewis, WA, Eddie retired from military service on June 29, 2006. Eddie is survived by his wife Catherine Salcedo and his four children, Camiel, Elias, Evan, and Susannah Salcedo. Eddie is also survived by his mother Robin Harrison, his younger brother Joseph and sisters, Betsy, Lisa, and Kayla, his uncle Mark Chico and family along with his other Chico uncles of Los Angeles, Pasqual, Edmund and Fred. Eddie is also survived by his grandparents Leo and Daisy Harrison, of Shiprock, NM, the Medicine Bears of the Lakotas, the Callahans of Oregon and the Salcedos of Los Angeles. Eddie is preceded in death by his father Leo Harrison Jr. and his grandmother Rose Chico. Viewing will be held on Wednesday July 19, 2006 from 5pm to 8pm at Edwards Memorial (253-566-1008) at 3005 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466. Memorial Service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at the Four Chaplains’ Memorial Chapel & Family Life Center (253-967-1721), Bldg. 9120 on Ft. Lewis base, WA. Non-military personnel that would like to attend the memorial service should email their R.S.V.P to [email protected] in order to be placed on access roster for military installation access to the chapel. Reception to immediately follow memorial service at the Four Chaplains’ Memorial Chapel on Ft. Lewis military base. Graveside service will follow the reception and will include Full Military Honors at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Sgt. First Class Eddie S. Salcedo to the Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466 in appreciation for the excellent care the hospice staff gave our beloved.
