Online Obituaries for Lexington, Frankfort, and Versailles KY Eddie Dean Smith passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his home. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Karsner Smith, stepdaughter Jill Sutton (Jack Pilcher), granddaughter Peyton Sutton, his mother, Gladys Coffey, sisters Ruby Brown, Susan Becraft, Barbara Dickenson and brothers Albert Smith and Cecil Coffey, Jr. (Peggy), brothers and sisters-in-law Joyce (Hershel) Beeler, Barbara Messer, Harold (Carol) Messer and Sandy (Max) Fultz, numerous nieces and nephews and special sidekick Tucker Hulette. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Smith, his eldest brother Ted Smith and brother-in-law Herbert Messer. Eddie was born in Versailles, KY on June 3, 1960. He resided in Frankfort for most of his adult life. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and working. Eddie enjoyed welding, carpentry, woodworking and masonry. He was a valued and loved employee of the Frankfort Independent School System. He loved children and considered the students of Frankfort Independent Schools his extended family. Funeral Information Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on December 7, 2017 from 10:00 to 12:00 with the memorial service to follow, Reverends Billy Betts, Bill Hartung, Truett Cocanougher and Howard Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, or Frankfort Independent Schools Foundation.
