Edgar George Greve
July 21st, 1932 - March 17th, 2018
REV. EDGAR "ED" G. GREVE age 85 of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Sienna Crest in Fort Atkinson. He was born on July 21, 1932 in Aurora, South Dakota, to Paul and Hannah (Strubbe) Greve. Ed was the seventh of eight children. After attending rural schools in South Dakota, he attended high school in New Ulm, Minn. Ed attended and graduated from Concordia College, St. Paul, Minn. He went on to attend Concordia Seminary, in Springfield, Illinois, graduating in 1957. Shortly after graduation, he married Marilyn Renken of San Jose, Illinois. Through the next 10 years they were blessed with six children. Ed and Marilyn celebrated 60 years of marriage. Rev. Greve was ordained in New Rockford, North Dakota in 1957. He began his ministry by serving parishes in New Rockford and Carrington, North Dakota. He later served parishes in Rantoul and Port Washington, Wisconsin; and Pocatello, Idaho. His last call was as Chaplain-Manager of Trinity Pines Retirement Center in Lake Mills. He frequently served as guest pastor in local ELCA churches. In retirement Ed enjoyed driving for Mid-State Auto Auction. Ed is survived by his wife Marilyn of Fort Atkinson. Daughters Julie (Rich) Vurva of Fort Atkinson; Janis (Randall Knoper) Greve of Amherst, Massachusetts; sons John (Fiona Gillies) Greve of Wellington, New Zealand; James (Betty) Greve of Wheaton, Illinois; Jason (Vicki Wiltse) Greve of Midland, Michigan. Seven grandchildren, Eric Vurva, Heather (Joseph) Bolanos, Stefana Soitos, Alana and Emilia Greve; Zane and Nolan Greve. Two brothers, Glen (Janice) Greve of Florida, Robert (LaVerta) Greve of Kansas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Joel Greve, brothers, Erven, Marvin, Vernon, Arnold, sister, Lola. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 26, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, with Rev. Amy Waelchli presiding. Visitation will be at the church on the 26th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ed's name may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson or to Rainbow Hospice.
