Edith Fyfe, 85, of Charlotte, NC died Friday, October 11, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs. Fyfe was born September 6, 1928, in Wake Forest, NC a daughter of the late Calvin and Mary Elizabeth Wall Holden. Edith was a graduate of Wake Forest College and the University of Tennessee. She was a social worker for child welfare for twenty years and employed with Belk Department Stores for seventeen years. Mrs. Fyfe was an avid bridge player and loved being with her friends and family. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon and thirteen brothers and sisters. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Chrys Strate and Bill Kelly. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Wanda Edwards, Nora Horton, Donna Harden, Joy Walden and Connie Crump and the staff of Presbyterian Hospital. The family would also like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Moore and Dr. Stewart Garner. A service to celebrate Edith's life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 13, 2013 in the Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. The family will receive friends following the service.
