Edith Bell Godden
January 9th, 1915 - September 2nd, 2005
Edith Bell Godden 90, of Old State Road, formerly of Amsterdam, passed away Friday morning at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home. Born in Amsterdam on January 9, 1915, the daughter of Winfield and Ethel McNeil VanWicklen, she lived here her entire life. A home maker, she was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. Her husband, William Godden predeceased her on August 11, 1965. Also, her only child, a daughter, Beverly Ann Godden Willsey passed away on Nov. 9, 1981. A loving and caring person, she was a mother figure to her grandchildren; Darlene Martin Thomas, Jane Willsey Tom Lalla, Debra Sykes Jeffrey, Linda Willsey Carlos Vazquez and Elizabeth Willsey; also surviving are her son in law, Nelson Willsey; brothers, Seymour Van Wicklen of Williamsport, Pa., and Winfield Van Wicklen Jr. Felicia of Amsterdam; thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A sister, Carrie VanWicklen also predeceased her. Services will take place on Tuesday morning at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Alice Monscke officiating. Interment is in Green Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Godden?ds name to the American Heart Asso. or the Diabetes Asso.
