Edna Butcher date of death October 28 2010 Butcher, Edna 101, 01/11/1909 - 10/28/2010 Edna Butcher, 101, passed away peacefully Oct. 28, 2010, in Portland. Edna was born in Leicester, England, to William and Olive Blunt, the fourth of seven children. The family immigrated to Canada in 1926, and then to California in 1929. There she met her future husband, Ivan. They married July 29, 1933. The couple relocated to Southern Oregon in 1944, where they owned the E & I Market in Grants Pass until 1973 when they retired to Yuma, Ariz. They split time between Arizona and Oregon until moving to Portland in 2000. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She will be remembered as an avid Trail Blazer fan, for her amazing ability to make everyone family, for her love of nature, and her lifelong love of a good cup of tea. Edna is survived by her children, Howard and Shirley; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a whole new generation of friends. She was predeceased by Ivan in 2001; daughters, Dorothy and Mary Ann; and all her siblings. Per her request, there will be no services. Contributions to the Oregon Humane Society, or simply think of her and smile.
