Edna Mae McDonnell Maloney was born October 23, 1927 in Rye, New York, to Eleanor Healy McDonnell and Michael Augustus McDonnell. Edna married Edward J. Maloney, a native New Yorker, in 1948. A mother of seven, all girls, she never ran out of love, or time, for her children, her grandchildren or her “great-grands”. She maintained a tradition of family and faith. Her family called her “Bootie,” short for “Beautiful”. She was a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the racquetball court. Edna worked with great joy and pride at the South Pine Grove School, which provided services and support to adults with disabilities. She was well-respected by her colleagues and invited to join the Board. In her retirement she volunteered at Our Saviour Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister and with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She also volunteered with the non-denominational foundation, “No One Should Die Alone”, which provides hope and peace to hospice patients and their loved ones. She is survived by her brother: John McDonnell; and her legacy lives on through her seven daughters: Judge Nancy Maloney, Sheila Donahue (Michael Donahue), Reetsie Maloney, Madelyn Maloney, Linda Ciell, Terese Booth, Katie Chiasson (Mark Chiasson); her grandchildren: Emily Donahue, Ryan Donahue (Maryanne Donahue), Russell Slover (Jamie Slover), Shea Maloney, Savanna Maloney, Margaux Maloney, Lauren Ciell (Daniel Leeb), August Paul Ciell, III, (Anna Ciell), Caroline Ciell Richman (Adam Richman), Taylor Booth, Marina Slover (Desman Cox), Genevieve Chiasson, and Matthew Slover; and her great-grandchildren: Caleb Donahue, Jack Donahue and Ryleigh Slover. She is predeceased by: her husband: Edward J. Maloney, her parents, her siblings: Peter McDonnell, Dorothy Murphy, Walter McDonnell, Bernadette Burgess, and her son-in-law and “partner in crime”, August Paul Ciell, Jr. Please join us for a Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 22nd at 1:00 pm at Our Saviour Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach, Florida. A reception will follow at the Cocoa Beach Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the following organizations: the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, or Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1013, Cape Canaveral, FL.
