Edna Steffen
February 20th, 1938 - July 2nd, 2024
Edna Marie Steffen passed away peacefully July 2, 2024 surrounded by family. Edna was born February 20, 1938, the second to the youngest of seven children to Luetta Smith and Lige Depew in Wellington Colorado. Edna grew up in the Wellington, and Owl Canyon area where she attended Owl Canyon Grade School, and later moved to Fort Collins, Co. where she attended Fort Collins High School. Edna met the love of her life Larry Steffen, and they were married June 21, 1957 in Fort Collins, Co. where they made their home and raised their children. Edna worked at Colorado State University in food service for 15 years, making salads. Edna loved all of the students that she served, but had to retire due to unexpected health issues. Edna enjoyed crafting, experimenting with different desserts, spending time with her family, and ice cream. In 1994 Edna became a member of First Assembly Of God now Timberline Church, where she volunteered in the nursery loving on all of the babies and earning the title “Miss Edna The Baby Whisperer” until January 2024 when her health took a turn for the worse. Edna had a strong faith for the lord and the church and would say “ If they had a place for me to stay I would live here.” Edna touched many lives and will be missed dearly. Survivors include, Daughters Robin Rippee, Janice Lienemann, and Diana (Darrell) Baird of Fort Collins, Sons Ricky Dean (Shirl) Steffen of Loveland, Michael (June) Steffen of Alamosa, Eleven Grand Children, Twenty-five Great Grand Children, Nine Great Great Grand Children, Sister Ella (Will) Koltenburger of Loveland, and numerous nieces and nephews. Edna is proceeded in death by both of her parents, husband Larry Steffen, sons Dewane Steffen, Bobby Joe Steffen, grandson Josh Baird, Sisters Maxine Clendenin, Barbara Elrod, Brothers Walt, Frank, and Jess Depew. A memorial service is set for July 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at Timberline Church, South Auditorium. 2908 S. Timberline Rd. Fort Collins, Co. 80525. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in care of the family. Please send donations payable to Sonja Shanahan at 2649 East Mulberry A1 Fort Collins, CO 80524.
