Mr. Eduardo Luis Gonzalez, 71, of Amsterdam, passed away October 18, 2016 at Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility, Amsterdam. He was born November 26, 1944 in Yauco, Puerto Rico the son of the late Ruben and Carmen Catanon Gonzalez. Eduardo was raised in Puerto Rico and attended schools there. He came to Amsterdam in 1971 and was employed at the former Coleco Industries and Amsterdam Glove Company. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. He was a member of the Amsterdam Hispanic Senior Citizens group. Eduardo enjoyed playing Dominoes and spending time with his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face when family was together especially when he was with his grandchildren. Eduardo is survived by his beloved wife, Blanca Ruiz Gonzalez whom he married on February 24, 1967. In addition to his wife survivors include his loving daughters, Glendy and Maria Gonzalez of Amsterdam and Carmen Gonzalez of Pennsylvania. One dear son, Eduardo Gonzalez Jr. of Amsterdam. Two brothers, Genado and Antonio Gonzalez. Sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by a sister Gracellia in 2007. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 1:00PM in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. There are no calling hours. Cremation will take place in Vale Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady, NY.
