Eduardo "Eddie" Gutierrez
September 16th, 1953 - October 26th, 2019
Eddie Gutierrez September 16, 1953 -October 26, 2019 Las Vegas, NM Eddie Gutierrez, most stubborn, sentimental, yet generous, funny ice cream lover, passed away on October 26, 2019. He was loved by many for his fierce support, friendship, and his lighthearted humor that only those closest to him understood. He would spend hours on end telling his life stories that never failed to entertain or impart wisdom. He was a man of many talents and a jack of all trades, who enjoyed wood works, watching westerns, wrestling, and his new found hobby, jewelry making. He especially loved to go to the flea market and see what treasures he could find. On September 16, 1953 Juan and Victoria Gutierrez blessed us with his birth. He enjoyed his childhood in Las Vegas, NM with his ten unique brothers and sisters: Ben, Reggie, Joe, Steve, Dennis, Freddie, Helen, Cyndi, Mary, and Ernie. On June 17, 1972 he married Connie Baca, his wife and mother of his four beautiful and smart daughters: Lucy, Geraldine, Karen, and Edwina. He raised his daughters in the Catholic faith in a firm but loving way. He was very proud of whom each of his daughters became and was not afraid to show them each and every day. He took extreme pride in his seven grandchildren: Joseph and Micheal Valdez, Vidal, Alejandro, and Vicente Vigil, and Arianna and Julian Garcia; and three great-grandchildren: Joseph Jr, Tori Valdez, and Miguel Valdez. He had many jobs throughout his life. He was happiest in nature and excelled at working as a ranch hand with his brother Reggie when he was younger. However, as a Funeral Assistant, he dedicated his life's work to helping other people to their final resting place. As with any fine wine, in our fathers age, he enjoyed the finer things in life. He enjoyed a good laugh and a beer or two or three (wink) with his family and well cherished friends: Valentine Pino, Tony Pena, Tony Baca, Ernie Armijo, and Leo Lucero. He leaves behind the Four most Beautiful Flowers in the Garden… Lucy, Geraldine, Karen, and Edwina. He also leaves behind three grieving sons-in-law: Henry Gonzales, Ramon Herrera, and Billy Garcia. He has spread his wings and found his way home to his father, mother, brothers and his beloved son-in-law Joseph Vigil. As with many Great legends, all stories must come to an end. Just as Natural Light and Brewers Ice Cream Companies are devastated by the loss of Eddie Gutierrez, we too must bid farewell. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. A special thank to Lucy and Henry Gonzales for the special care and attention they provided in his final years on earth with us.
