Edward J. Bolen
October 18th, 1948 - September 16th, 2024
Edward J. Bolen, 75, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday, September 16th peacefully at home with family at his side.
Born On October 18, 1948, in Odessa, TX he was the son of the late Elmer and Ileana (Scullen) Bolen. Edward was a graduate of Central Technical High School class of 1966. After graduation Edward joined the Navy and served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he became a skilled welder. Edward received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy and later became a member of Iron Workers Local 60. He was the owner of Curley’s Tavern in the Valley for many years before he retired. Edward was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, artist, Yankees fan, and lover of Basset Hounds. He was a member of the American Legion Valley Post 1468 and just last year he had the privelage of being part of Honor Flight Syracuse Mission 19.
He is survived by his two daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Adams of Princeton, TX and Amy Bolen of Syracuse. His siblings, Kristine (Daniel) Trytek of Syracuse, Kathleen Young of Syracuse, James (Darlene) Bolen of Fulton, Mary K Bolen of Syracuse, and Patricia (Charles) Zervakos of Long Island. His grandchildren, Robert (Jamey) Adams, Nicolas Adams, Jonathan Adams, Lucia Palmer, Emily Bolen, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved Basset Hound, Gort.
Calling hours will be Friday, September 20th from 10 AM to 12 PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13205. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Nedrow, NY 13120.
