Edward "Gene" Eugene CAVIN
August 26th, 1931 - December 17th, 2007
EDWARD "GENE" E. CAVIN, age 76, of Jefferson, passed away at his home on November 26th, 2007. He was born on August 26, 1931 in Concordia Kansas, son of the late Lyman and Ada (Williams) Cavin. He married Doris Cooper on September 6, 1953, in St. Louis Missouri. Edward served in the United States Air Force and the National Guard. He was a member and past president of the Hampton Park American Legion post # 1261 in Romeo Illinois. A member of the LaSalle Assembly 4th degree Knights of Columbus Council #0189, in Chicago Illinois, and the Cardinal Council 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council # 1691 in Cicero Illinois. He was employed as a Paint Chemist for various companies, retiring from the Tioga Co. in Illinois, and a member of the Federation of Societies for Paint Technology in Chicago Illinois. "Gene" was on the Advisory Board and Secretary for the Senior Center in Jefferson, he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his wife Doris of Jefferson 6 daughters; Mona Elaine (Ernie) Resendez of Marietta Georgia Cheryl Ann (Mitchell) Ekstrom of Bowie Maryland Sandra Jean (Errol) Linden of Aledo Texas Roberta Leah (James) Hall of Deland Florida Karen Elizabeth Garczynski of Oconomowoc Wisconsin Marion Denise (John) Kivikaski of Albany Wisconsin 8 granddaughters, 7 grandsons, 1 step-granddaughter, 3 great granddaughters. One brother; Lloyd (Vicki) Cavin of Huntington Beach California He is preceded in death by one sister; Lora Schmied Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday November 30, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating burial will be in the parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday evening at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral, Jefferson and then again on Friday morning at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The family has requested memorials be given in Edward's memory to Jefferson Rainbow Hospice.
