Mr. Day and Lloyd moved in next to my Mom in 2000. I really didn’t get to know the Days until I moved out here in 2007 to take care of my Mom. Oh boy, what a smile Mr. Day had. I should explain that I’ve always called him Mr. Day as there already was another Ed a couple doors down! I stayed on here after my Mom passed and somewhere along the line I started cutting Mr. Days grass for him. I followed somebody on Facebook who always had a post: Today is National wear PJs day or Today is National roller coaster day. When Mr. Day would come out and thank me for cutting the grass, I’d say Happy Birthday early Mr. Day or It’s National eat carrots day or something silly like that. I always got the big smile. In 2015 when I adopted my dog Dino, we would stop by Mr. Day to say hi. I’d lift Dino up so he could give Mr. Day some kisses and Mr. Day always had a big smile and some dog treats for Dino. The last time I saw Mr. Day was when he came home briefly to try home hospice. I ran out and said Mr. Day Welcome Home, he looked at me a little puzzled and then he recognized me and I got the big smile. Rest easy Mr. Day, your earthly journey is done. I hope you are lighting up heaven with your big smile. Your neighbor Sandy.
