Edward "Jack" John Emery

Wednesday Oct. 13, 2004, 11:30 a.m. Prior to service at the church Edward John Emery, 71, of Olympia, known from infancy as Jack, died suddenly on Saturday, October 9, 2004 from a stroke. Jack was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada on March 2, 1933 to Edward and Gertrude (Coyne) Emery. He was the eldest of three sons. He graduated from St. Josephs High School in Lethbridge in 1951. A gifted student and talented athlete, he excelled in school and kept his love of learning and sports throughout his life. Although he was unable to pursue higher education, he had a successful career in engineering and construction management. His professional projects included the Bay Area Rapid Transit System in San Francisco, Wanapum, and Priest Rapids Dams in Washington, as well as power plants in Oregon, Alaska, Arizona, California and Michigan. Jack married Corrine LaRue Loose on December 11, 1951. From that day on he devoted his life to his family. He was a tender and gentle father to four daughters, Beverley Emery ( Dawn Larsen) of Lacey, Donna (Steve) Lowry of West Jordan, Utah, Kathryn Emery, Lacey and MaryAnn Emery of Seattle. He is also survived by a brother Bob, his wife, Maxine and their three children all living in Canada. He had five step-grandchildren; Aaron (Omayra) Wood, Gary (Alycia) Lowry, Jennifer (Jared) Young, Karl Lowry and Alex Lowry, all of Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws and by his youngest brother Ross. Jack leaves behind a legacy of love and service. He never turned away an opportunity to help others. He was an exceptional husband to Corrine all of his life. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Nisqually Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the corner of Meridian Rd. and 4th Street NE, Olympia. Friends may pay their respects beginning at 11:30 a.m. before the service at the Church.
