Edward Fanning, Sr. of Englewood, FL passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was born on February 12, 1927 in West Haven, CT to William and Ella (McMinn) Fanning. Mr. Fanning served in the Merchant Marines in the 1940's during WW-II. He was a member of Teamster local 191 in Bridgeport, CT retiring after 33 years. He moved to Florida in 1982 and worked in the Pest Control Field. Edward was well known in the area for his spectacular Christmas light displays, one of the largest in Englewood. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grove City. He was Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years; Shirley O'Connor Fanning. Edward is survived by his children; Edward, Jr (Mary), daughter; Linda Havican (Steve), five grandsons, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Englewood Community Funeral Home, Inc. Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in his name to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238.
