Edward Everett Foil Jr.
1942 - 2024
Edward Everett Foil Jr. passed away on February 10, 2024. Ed was born on March 2, 1942 to Edward Everett Foil Sr. “Pinkie” and Mercedes Chastant in Bogalusa, Louisiana. After graduating from Bogalusa High School, he continued his education at Southeastern Louisiana University attaining a Masters Degree in Education and certifications in Library Service and Secondary School Administration. Ed was an original faculty member at Salmen High School and worked as a Media Director and Librarian for over 30 years. Photography was one of his favorite hobbies and he was usually behind the camera (rarely in front of it). He enjoyed taking pictures at weddings, high school events and family portraits. Ed was active in Boy Scouts as a youth and continued serving the organization as Scoutmaster for many years into adulthood.
He met his future wife standing in line at the Post Office (even though her line may have the longest). He married Brenda Gayle Willson on August 3,1975 in Slidell, LA and together they had one daughter Felicia. Ed and Felicia shared the love of softball together. He coached the Foil’s Fillies to a winning record in the 1990s. In 2009, Ed & Brenda moved to Aurora, a Denver suburb to be near Felicia and eventually twin grandsons.
Ed was passionate about American western history and was especially interested cowboys and western movies. He was also an avid reader and always cheered on the New Orleans Saints.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Carl Foil. He is survived by his wife Brenda of Aurora, CO; daughter Felica (Donya) Foil of Jacksonville, NC; two grandsons Declan and Teague Foil of Jacksonville, NC; sister Clara (George) Hatfield of Slidell, LA; niece Maggie Hatfield, nephew Mark Hatfield and great nephew Mavrick Hatfield of Slidell, LA.
In honor of Ed, contributions may be made to Salmen High School, 300 Spartan Dr. Slidell, LA, 70458, 985.643.7359.
