Mr. Edward J. Kartner, 46, of Princetown Road, Rotterdam died suddenly on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at his home. Born on November 24, 1962 in Amsterdam, NY he was the son of Edward A. Kartner and the late Helen Kowalski Kartner. A lifelong area resident, Ed graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1980. At the age of 17 he began his career as a carpenter and currently worked for Local 370, in Albany. Ed enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and was a very generous man always willing to lend a hand; and was a Harley Davidson enthusiast. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his father, Edward A. Kartner of Amsterdam; his only daughter, Allison Kartner of Rotterdam; one brother, Gary Kartner of Rotterdam; one nephew, Andrew Kartner of Rotterdam; Aunts and Uncles, Josephine Mrozek of Amsterdam, Hank Irene Kartner of Amsterdam, Irene Frank Fraczak of Amsterdam and Lee Taber of Warrensburg. Several cousins and friends also survive. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 11 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Fr. David Wm. Mickiewicz. Interment of his remains will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 9 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an Educational Fund for his daughter, Allison in care of the funeral home office.
