Edward S. Kunkel, Sr., 71, passed away on October 30, 2016, in Olympia, Washington. He was born in Long Beach, California to Edward and June Kunkel. A graduate of North Thurston High School, he served in the US Coast Guard, and married his high school sweetheart, Gerry (Johnson) Kunkel. They were married almost 50 years, and had three sons, Ed Jr., Eugene (deceased), and Aaron; nine grandchildren; and a great grandson. Edward retired from the Olympia Police Department in 1996 and sold RVs until he retired in 2012. He enjoyed RV traveling, boating, fishing, Seahawks, and hanging out with his retired buddies. His first love was the Lord, and he was very active in his church. He was everybody’s friend and leaves a void in our hearts. Donations in his memory can be made to the National Cancer Society or Providence Hospice. Please leave memories of Edward or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
