Edward Duane Soylo Martinez

Edward Soylo Duane Martinez passed away peacefully on January 18, 2020 at the age of 75.He was a father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.Duane Martinez was born in the town of Alamosa, Colorado to Meliton Martinez and Rose Martinez.Enlisting in the United States Air Force at the age of 20, he served his country for a term of four years in the specialty of Air Force Medical Services having completed several commendable courses to include Medical Helper, Medical Service, and Emergency Medical Care.After serving in the Armed Forces and being Honorably Discharged at the rank of Sergeant, Duane went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Adam State University.Upon graduation, Duane began a very successful career as one of the most influential bankers in Colorado Springs. He went on to open a local business, The Walkabout Bar and Grill with his best friend, Jonell Gillis.Duane loved serving his community, being of service to his family and friends, and living life his way.Edward is survived by his best friend, Jonell Gillis; sons, Victor Duane (Angie) Martinez and Scott Alan Martinez; his daughter, Lisa Whitlock; grandchildren, Alicia Ann Nguyen, Devin, Daunte and Aaron; grandson-in-law, Lam Nguyen; great-grandson, Raphael Nguyen; brothers, Donald Martinez and Robert E.
