Edward Michael Meredith (Mike), 67, husband of Dr. Judy Land Jones, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Ernest and Cora Raymer Meredith on December 16, 1951. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Meredith and Matt (Amelia) Meredith, both of Lexington; his brother, Don Meredith, Louisville; his grandchildren, Layla and JJ; his sister-in-law, Janet Meredith, Louisville; his niece, Kristin Meredith, Louisville; his nephews, Dwight, Jason, Kevin, Andrew, Sean, and Chris Meredith, all of Louisville; and his nephew, Billy Meredith of Dallas. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Ray Meredith, and his sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Tina Meredith. Visitation will be Monday, March 4, 2019 from 3 – 4 PM at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing with a Celebration of Life Service from 4 – 5 PM. Diane Munoz, M.Div., will officiate. A Gathering of Family and Friends will follow from 5 – 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bluegrass Pug Rescue (www.bluegrasspugrescue.org), the Lexington Humane Society (www.lexingtonhumanesociety.org) or Bluegrass Hospice Care (www.bgcarenav.org). Mr. Meredith graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1975 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Accounting. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and various other organizations. While attending UK and for a brief period after graduation, he served as Assistant Bar Manager at 803 South. His first position after graduating from college was with IBM where he worked in sales from 1976 to 1977. Following that he served as Plant Manager at Tobacco Estates for a period before entering the insurance business. Mike served as a Business Insurance Advisor with both Federated Mutual Insurance Co. and Accordia – Reager Harris Insurance Co. before starting his own insurance business, Aaron & Associates Insurance, in 1997. He retired from the insurance business in 2015. Mike was one of the original founding members and investors in the Lexington Legends. He loved to play both trivia and poker and was an avid UK sports fan. In addition, he was involved in sports for much of his adult life whether it was coaching his son in basketball, playing adult soccer, or playing softball as a member of the Bud Lights Softball team. He was the founding member of the Bud Lights Softball team, which won several championships. Mike was also an animal lover. He was especially fond of pugs and became a pug lover when he adopted Molly. He later adopted Chloe and two cats, Samson and Delilah, all of whom are deceased. He is survived by his pugs, Angel, Callie, Sammy, and Buddy; his lab, Gonzo; his Yorkie, Karli; and his four cats, Charlie, Dani, Sasha, and Sydney. He regularly contributed to various animal causes and was quick to help any animal in need. His two favorite animal groups are listed above. The family wishes to thank his amazing friends for their support during this difficult time. In addition, the family is eternally grateful to his Hospice teams and everyone else at Bluegrass Care Navigators for the wonderful care and support they provided.
