Obituary of SFC (Ret.) Edward Lee Pringle
On February 21, 2024, after a short illness, we lost an amazing husband, father, opa, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, and friend. Edward Lee Pringle, “Ed” to his friends; was born on September 5, 1955, in Thomasville NC. Early education was spent in the public schools of Thomasville and High Point NC.
After High School in 1973, he enlisted in the United States Army and at the end of basic training in Fort Jackson SC, he was stationed in Germany, spending a total of 14 years overseas. During 1991 he spent six months in SW Asia during the Desert Storm war, where he received numerous medals including the Bronze Star, the Kuwait Liberation medal, and the SW Asia Service medal with 3 bronze stars.
While stationed in Bad Hersfeld, Germany in 1975 he met and married the love of his life, Elisabeth, with whom he shared 46 loving years of marriage. In 1978 they had a son Ken, and in 1982 a daughter Bianca, he loved both without measure and unconditionally.
When he retired from the military in Fort Riley KS in 1995, he began working full time for Armor Eckrich, in Junction City KS, where he worked for 20 years and retired in 2015. In 2017 he moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to his daughter and her family.
In his spare time, Ed loved to watch television, quiz shows, and the judges were his favorite. He was well liked and couldn’t go to a store without being acknowledged by anyone who passed by, his favorite were the Dollar Stores. He had a green thumb and revived any dying plant to full bloom.
Ed loved his family deeply and he adored his grandchildren, Kaleb, and Alina. After the Sunday family dinner, he liked playing board and card games with everyone, and we had a lot of laughs.
He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Gray Pringle; his father, Franklin Pringle; brothers, James F. Pringle, and Clarence E. Neely; brother-in-law Roy Hairston and father and mother-in-law, Günter and Wilma Wenig.
He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Pringle; son Ken Pringle; daughter, Bianca Brandon; grandchildren Kaleb, and Alina, all of Colorado Springs; his sisters Gloria Jean Hairston and Linda Gail Pringle, of Lexington NC; his in-laws, Gunda and Werner Maurer of Germany as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
