Edward "Patrón" M Ruiz

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Age 78 of St. Paul, MN passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by parents Manuel and Elvira Ruiz; sister Sylvia (Fred) Saucedo; brother Ralph Ruiz; and brother-in-law Mike Dueñes. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Mary Lou; daughters Carrie Kissling (Kevin Evans), Christine Ruiz-Tiemann (Brad Tiemann), Connie (Julio) Escobedo, Cheryl Ruiz and Charlotte (Erik) Wilsey; grandchildren Matthew (Jessica) Grover, Kelley (Daniel) Diethelm, Laura (Andy) Goodwin, Juliana Escobedo, Abigail Kissling, Gabriella Escobedo, Scott (Oksana) Norwig, Cole Wilsey, Shane Norwig, Nico Escobedo and Emma Wilsey; great-grandchildren Ava Grover, Genevieve Diethelm, Hendrix Norwig, Nova Goodwin, Yvie Norwig and expecting baby Diethelm; sister Josephine Dueñes and sister-in-law Bonnie Ruiz and many other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. Eddie had a 37-year career working for the railroad beginning with Rock Island, then Milwaukee, Soo Line and finally CP Rail where he retired as a Round House Supervisor. He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, spending time with his family and was "Champion of the World" at all board games! Eddie had a strong faith and connection with St. Peter's Church in Canyon, MN where he volunteered and was happy to donate his time and energy for the preservation and restoration of this historic church. He was a dedicated husband and a strong advocate for his five daughters and was always willing to listen and/or give advice to guide and empower them in all aspects of their lives. He loved to visit with people and had a great sense of humor. He especially liked to joke around with the kids. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 with a Visitation from 3:00pm to 5:00pm followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 5:00pm at Sandberg Funeral and Cremation Services, 2593 East 7th Avenue, North St. Paul, MN 55109.
