Edward "Wayne" Wayne Russ
August 6th, 1943 - November 4th, 2018
LEXINGTON - Edward Wayne Russ passed away peacefully at his home in Lexington, SC on Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was born in Miami, Fla on August 6, 1943 to Janie Robinson Peake and the late Howard E. Russ. He is survived by his mother, Janie R. Peake; brothers, Randy Robinson and Fred Russ (June); sister, Vickie Smith (Mike); daughter by his first marriage, Amy Russ and granddaughter, Jessica Russ. Also surviving, and very much loved by Wayne are his late wife's children; sons, Graham Houghten II (Erin) and Jeffrey Houghten; daughter, Shelly Wilkie (Chad); granddaughters, Daniele Crushy (Christian), Alicia Houghten (Joe Crouch), Gabriell Houten, Sierra Wilkie (Tommy Valvano), Jessica Wilkie, Hannah Beck (Brandon), Mia Wilkie; great-grandsons; Emerson, Jude, Elijah and Wayne, and Joyce's two dogs, Muppet and Buttons. In addition to his father, Wayne was predeceased by his loving wife of 20 years, Joyce Houghten Russ. Wayne was a good hearted man who believed in God, and loved his family dearly. He was a man of quick wit, and always made you laugh. He was quite artistic with in his drawings, and liked to assemble and meticulously paint cars, aircraft and space models. Wayne loved to travel with his late wife, Joyce and their dogs in their RV and enjoyed the beach.. I, Amy, would like to say a special and endearing thank you to Graham, Alicia, Joe, Daniele and Christian for their caring, dedication, love and support to my father, Wayne, during his greatest time in need. There are not enough words... A memorial gathering for Wayne will be held in the Russ family home at 101 Allenbrooke Drive, Lexington, SC 29072 on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Pets Inc., the Animal Protection League of SC, the Humane Society of SC and the American Cancer Society. Thank you to Compassionate Care Hospice for their exemplary care. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.
