Edward George Schleining
August 12th, 1933 - March 3rd, 2014
Edward George Schleining, 80, of Greeley, CO graduated to glory on March 3, 2014 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. He was born August 12, 1933 in Lamar, CO to Henry and Lydia (Kahl) Schleining. At the age of seven he moved to Eads, CO and graduated from Eads High School in 1951. George served in the U. S. Army from 1953-1955. In 1956 he began a career with Colorado Interstate Gas Company and retired in 1995 after 39 years. On October 28, 1961 he married Dorothy Rule in Wiley, CO. In 1982 George and Dorothy moved to Byers, CO and opened the Country Burger Restaurant which they sold in 2004 and retired to Greeley. He enjoyed gardening and cooking – a skill he learned during his military service. He played sports in his younger years and continued to enjoy watching sports and attending his children’s sports activities. For many years George taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Gideon’s and Greeley Wesleyan Church. He will be remembered by his family as a kind-hearted man and a loving devoted husband and father. George is survived by his wife Dorothy of Greeley; sons, Richard (Sherry) of Cheyenne Wells, CO, Terry (Carla) of Dunlap, TN, Scott (Vicky) of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughter, Shelley (Randy) of Kiev, Ukraine; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Reinert of Holly, CO, Helen Gilman and Arlene Decker of Aurora, CO, Dorothy Battaglia of Pueblo, CO, and Janet Laird of Lamar. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bobby. A celebration of George’s life will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Adamson Chapel in Greeley. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to "Gideon’s International” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
