Edward Joseph Tolsdorf
November 6th, 1921 - March 30th, 2018
Edward Joseph Tolsdorf, of Pine Grove, CA, passed away at his home on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the age of 96. He was born in Alpena, MI on November 6, 1921 to the late Stella (Gutowski) and Stenslaw Tolsdorf. A soldier, mechanic, husband, and father, Edward was a man of honor and dignity. He married the love of his life, Roselyn, in Honolulu, HI made his home in Oakland for many years before moving to Amador County in 1973. Because of his service in the U.S. Army in WWII, Edward was a devoted member of the VFW and American Legion in Amador County, as well as a member of the Jackson Knights of Columbus, and lifelong parishioner of the Catholic church. Edward is preceded by his wife of fifty-one years, Roselyn Tolsdorf; daughter, Theresa; and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Bill) Perry, of Kula Maui, HI, and Marilyn (Chuck) Johnson, of Placerville, CA; son, Edward Tolsdorf, Jr., of Livermore, CA; sister, Eleanor Fry, of MI; brothers, Leo Tolsdorf and Harry Tolsdorf, both of MI; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. Friends are invited to attend a vigil service followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, followed by a mass of Christian burial the next day, Friday, April 20, 2018, at 1:00 P.M., at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jackson, CA. Interment will take place in the Garden of Valor at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson, CA. Contributions may be made to the Jackson Knights of Columbus.
