Edward Alan Womack
June 14th, 1972 - April 22nd, 2014
WOMACK, Edward Alan, 41, of Orlando, Florida passed away April 22, 2014. Edward was born in Bowling Green, KY and moved to Florida in 1984. He was a graduate of Leto High School and University of South Florida. Under the leadership of his scoutmaster and mentor, Maj. Richard Sisco, he earned his Eagle Scout rank, was made a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow, and was later sworn in as an officer of the US Army. After a brief stint as a decorated mechanized infantry officer, he was medically retired due to health issues that would plague him for the rest of his life. He relocated to Orlando where he attended Full Sail College, studied digital media and graduated as valedictorian of his class. He was hired as an instructor of 3D modeling by Full Sail, where he worked for five years. He joined ETC Simulation of Orlando where he used his skills to help develop emergency management disaster preparedness simulations that would be used in training first responders around the world to save lives. He was deeply admired and respected by customers and coworkers. His work can be seen on his website, DigitalMagician.net. Ed was strong willed and opinionated about the things that were important to him, but had a deeply generous and a very loving heart. He came to the aid of many including family, friends, neighbors and even strangers both financially and emotionally. He could always be relied upon for a big bear hug and a witty quip for encouragement. He is survived by his parents, Carol and Richard Womack of Lutz, FL; his sisters, Emily Golecki and Elizabeth Womack of Tampa, whom he loved dearly; his nieces, Sophia Rose and Olivia Grace Golecki, whom he loved more than life itself, and his former brother-in-law, Robert Golecki, of Land O’ Lakes. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Jim and Sherry Womack of Bowling Green, KY; Dan and Julie Womack of Mesa, AZ; Steve Womack of Richmond, KY and Kathleen Womack of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by several cousins. He will be buried in the Masaryktown Cemetery near his beloved friend, Mr. Sisco. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, if so moved, contributions to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, Land O’ Lakes, FL be made in Ed’s name to help feed and shelter those in need. He was greatly loved and will surely be missed by all those who knew him. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at Loyless Funeral Home on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
