Edward Joseph Young
February 18th, 1923 - January 5th, 2020
Dr. Edward Joseph Young, 96, †œA brilliant mind, a quiet humor is Eddie†™s unique combination.†� Our beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle passed away peacefully in Lakewood, CO on January 5, 2020. WWII Veteran and Graduate of Linden High School; Rutgers-BS, Phi Beta Kappa; MIT-PhD. Born February 18, 1923 in Roselle, NJ. He and his wife Amelia Painter moved to Golden, CO in 1955 to pursue his 40-year career in Geology with the Department of Interior. He was a 50-year Fellow of the Geological Society. His work involved the Schwartzwalder uranium mine, mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry. He was an animal lover, an avid tennis player and reader, science and philosophy enthusiast, and enjoyed hiking and traveling to the mountains and seashore with his family. He is survived by his brother James Young, son Michael Young and daughter Ann Young and three grandchildren, Adele and Mitchell Young, and Tatiana Pellow. There will be a celebration of life of Edward Joseph Young on Friday February 14th at 2:30 pm, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO. His Memorial Service will include military honors. Please arrive at staging Area B by 2:15 pm.
